The Year of the Lord's favor

Luke 4:19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.

A few years back I was watching a preacher on TV and he was talking about Luke 4:19 "to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor" he went on to explain how in the year of the "Lord's favor" there was a car with your name on it, a house with my name on it, and so many other blessings. It is beautiful to receive blessings from the Lord, but what surprised me is that the preacher didn't mention that in order to live the year of the Lord's favor we have to do the Lord's work. The preacher made no mention on verse 18, he did not mention that we have to preach the Gospel to the poor, to free those who are oppressed or give their sight to the blind. Like I said before it is beautiful to be blessed and to have a year of favors, but we have to remember that being blessed is more than getting a new car or a new house, being blessed means that we have the energy and positive attitude to do what is necessary to fulfill Luke 4:19 with out forgetting to fulfill 4:18.

I think that in order to have a year of favor we have to get ready to work, to get to know what really being blessed means, not only getting ready to collect the blessings. Being blessed means that we are able to savor the process, the work, that we have to get through before getting the blessing.

I hope that you can have the Lord's favor this year, and that you can make it one of blessings, that you and your family can collect everything that the Lord has for you, work hard for him, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
